Texas Conference for Employers

Texas Conference for Employers

The Office of the Commissioner Representing Employers sponsors the Texas Conference for Employers, a series of employer seminars around the state. Employers are encouraged to attend at least one of the seminars in order to learn nuts and bolts information on state and federal employment laws and how to deal with the unemployment claim and appeal process.

Annual Texas Workforce Conference

Save the dates for the 24th Annual Texas Workforce Conference scheduled for December 2 – 4, 2020, at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country in San Antonio, Texas.  

Are you interested in sharing your knowledge and being a part of the TWC/IAWP 24th Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas? TWC is seeking proposals for creative and exciting conference sessions that will broaden horizons, enrich experiences and challenge workforce professionals in attendance. Rehabilitation Council of Texas

The 15-member Rehabilitation Council of Texas meets at least quarterly to work with TWC Vocational Rehabilitation Services programs to develop, agree to and review state goals and priorities.

RCT Town Hall Meetings for Vocational Rehabilitation Customers, Caregivers, and Service Providers

In 2020, the Rehabilitation Council of Texas (RCT) and Texas Workforce Solutions Vocational Rehabilitation Services will host a Town Hall Series throughout Texas to hear more about the challenges facing Texans with disabilities who are seeking employment. Please make plans to attend - your input will help shape the future of vocational rehabilitation services provided by the State of Texas. RCT Town Hall meeting dates and times are available now – the first meeting is March 5 in Austin, Texas.

The 13-member Purchasing from People with Disabilities Advisory Committee provides recommendations to the Texas Workforce Commission on matters related to the Texas Purchasing from People with Disabilities program, which assists individuals with disabilities in achieving independence through productive employment opportunities.

ApprenticeshipTexas Conference

The Texas Workforce Commission will host its third annual ApprenticeshipTexas Conference on September 19-20, 2019. The conference provides insights into developing apprenticeship training programs from leading practitioners including industry associations and employers, labor partnerships, community colleges, high schools, and workforce boards, inviting employers, educators, workforce boards.

The agenda for the 2019 ApprenticeshipTexas Conference has been posted below. The agenda features a wide range of topics from Board Awards, Pre-apprenticeship to Apprenticeship models, a Skills Panel, Apprenticeships – the How and Why, CTE Signing Day Activities, Workforce Development Specialists in ISDs, Workroom for one-on-one discussion, and more.

The first day of the conference, September 19, features a Congressional and Federal update from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Regional Office. The day is completed with an exhibitor mixer and vendor displays. The second day of the conference, September 20, features panel discussions with workforce industry representatives and pre-apprenticeship training models.
