AUSTIN ⎯ Gov. Greg Abbott has named Bryan Daniel Chairman of the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), the agency announced today. Gov. Abbott has also appointed Aaron S. Demerson as TWC’s new Commissioner Representing Employers.
The Texas Workforce Commission is pleased to welcome its new Chairman, Commissioner Representing the Public Bryan Daniel. Prior to beginning his term on July 29, 2019, Chairman Daniel served as the Executive Director of the Office of the Governor Economic Development Division.
“I am extremely humbled by the opportunity to serve alongside Commissioner Alvarez and the newly appointed Commissioner Demerson as the Chairman of the Texas Workforce Commission,” said Chairman and Commissioner Representing the Public Bryan Daniel. “Through our combined skill sets, we will strive to make Texas better for all who live and work here.”
TWC is also pleased to welcome the new Commissioner Representing Employers, Commissioner Aaron S. Demerson of Austin, Texas. Commissioner Aaron Demerson joins the three-member Commission and will serve as the representative for Employers promoting and supporting the growth of Texas’ world-class employers and talented workforce that will continue to lead the Texas economy toward a promising future.

I look forward to working with him in my new role,” said newly appointed TWC Commissioner Representing Employers Aaron S. Demerson. “I’d like to thank Gov. I am truly honored and look forward to working alongside my fellow Commissioners Julian Alvarez and Chairman Bryan Daniel to keep Texas the best state in the nation.”
Prior to his appointment, Commissioner Demerson served as the Director of the Office of Employer Initiatives at the Texas Workforce Commission. Prior to employment at the Texas Workforce Commission he served as a Senior Advisor to Gov. Rick Perry and Executive Director of the Economic Development & Tourism Division in the Governor’s Office leading a team that marketed the State of Texas as a premier destination for both business and travel. He has also served as the Director of Texas Business Development (State of Texas-NAFTA Office in Mexico City, Domestic, Expansion and Recruitment, Research, and International Business Recruitment) and as the Director of Administration.

I know firsthand the skills, knowledge and relationships Commissioner Demerson will bring in his new role,” said TWC Commissioner Representing Labor Julian Alvarez. “Meanwhile, under the leadership of Chairman Daniel, I am confident that Texas will remain a top destination for job seekers and businesses.”
Commissioner Demerson has a BBA in Finance from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. He also received a general banking diploma from the American Institute of Banking, and is a ‘91-‘92 graduate of Leadership Austin.
