AUSTIN ⎯ Entergy Texas and Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas have partnered to provide participants with education and training including paid work experience in the energy, petroleum and chemical products industries. The program is part of the Texas Industry Partnership (TIP) initiative and will help up to 50 eligible participants become industry professionals. This customized training is made possible using a $100,000 TIP grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The grant will benefit workers in the Southeast Texas area.
“Texas is fortunate to have Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas, Entergy, and Region 5 ESC collaborating to provide workforce training with assistance of this Texas Industry Partnership grant,” said TWC Commissioner Representing Employers Aaron Demerson. “This partnership reflects an ongoing commitment from this community that will continue to benefit individuals in the Southeast Texas area.”
The Texas Industry Partnership program is a $1 million program that allows the local workforce board to apply for funds, leveraged by local industry partners, on the behalf of workforce related project. Ideally the funds are to create occupational job training programs that will improve the skill sets of individuals for jobs in six designated industry clusters: advanced manufacturing, aerospace, biotechnology, information technology, petroleum refining and energy. Funding can be used for, but is not limited to, curriculum, equipment, instructors and small building improvements.
For more on this training program, businesses are encouraged to contact their local Workforce Solutions office or visit the Texas Industry Partnership Program webpage.
