What is TXInternshipChallenge.com?

TXInternshipChallenge.com is a free website where employers can post internships. TXInternshipChallenge.com has access to thousands of internship postings. It offers veterans’ preference hiring and supports technical as well as non-technical positions.

What is an internship?

Internships offer relevant workplace experience. They can range from several weeks to several months.

What are the benefits of internships?

Internships allows students to explore occupations, gain experience, and make professional connections. This can make them more competitive for the full-time job search.

Internships provide employers the opportunity to explore talent and gain diverse perspectives.

Are internship positions paid?

Texas Workforce Commission encourages Texas employers to offer paid internships. Paid internships tend to attract more applicants.

The going rate for an internship is between $12-15/hour. This may increase for more high-demand industries or companies.

Academic requirements of for-credit internships are set by a student’s school. Students are responsible for obtaining course credit.

Who is eligible to apply for an internship?

Internship opportunities are usually offered to high school, postsecondary students, and recent graduates.

Do interns have the same workplace rights as full-time employees?

Paid interns have the same workplace rights as typical employees. Employers should ensure compliance with the full spectrum of employment law.

Employer Registration

To register. employers need:

  • a Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN)
  • a UI Employer Account Number

There is a 72-hour verification process following registration. This is to ensure only qualified employers are participating in the program.

Registrants will receive a confirmation email indicating they can:

  • Post positions (the site calls this “creating job orders”)
  • Search for candidates
  • Accept applications

Create Internship Descriptions

Internship position descriptions which should include:

  • An organizational overview
  • Job duties
  • Experience or skills needed to apply
  • Internship location
  • Start and end date
  • Daily/weekly hours expected to work
  • Pay
  • Special attire or uniforms, if applicable

Candidates using the site must be age 16+ and submit a resume. State if the position has any age considerations and any other content needed to apply.
