Texas Workforce Commission is partnering with the Texas Governor’s Committee on People With Disabilities and the Texas Workforce Solutions network for a campaign called Texas HireAbility to raise awareness about the benefits of hiring people with disabilities and to highlight the contributions of people with disabilities in the workforce.

We Hire Ability Employer Recognition Program

We Hire Ability LogoThe We Hire Ability program recognizes Texas employers for their commitment to hiring people with disabilities, and for their efforts to create an inclusive workforce.

Beginning in 2021, employers whose workforce includes individuals with disabilities in an integrated workplace, and in which they comprise at least 10 percent of the employer’s Texas-based workforce, are eligible to receive a We Hire Ability employer recognition decal to display on their storefront and a digital decal to display on their website.

Greater Houston Disability Chamber of Commerce; Texas Workforce Solutions-Vocational Rehabilitation Services October 22, 2020 - 8:30 -10:00 AM Paid Work Experience, Work Wages-Work Quest, VR services through TWC - Work Experience services allow a customer to be placed at a business or agency within the community to learn skills for long-term, competitive, integrated employment. These entities are referred to as "Work Experience sites." Work Experience services are intended to be short term (12 or fewer weeks) and part-time and can take place in a volunteer, internship, or temporary short-term paid-work setting. Work Experience services are available for students or youth with disabilities and basic Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) customers and may be used to determine a customer’s eligibility for VR.  
National Disability Institute October 22, 2020 - 1:00-2:00 PM Zoom webinar registration Creating a Culture of Disability Inclusion and Equity - Join the Center for Disability-Inclusive Community Development (CDICD), managed by National Disability Institute (NDI), for a conversation with JP Morgan Chase to discuss creating a culture of disability inclusion and equity in banking, employment and community development. This webinar will include a panel discussion that highlights examples of building a more equitable and inclusive community for people with disabilities. It will also include highlights from NDI's recently published brief: Race, Ethnicity and Disability: The Financial Impact of Systemic Inequality and Intersectionality.
