The JET program provides grants to buy and install equipment for career and technical education (CTE) courses. These courses must lead to a license, certificate or post-secondary degree in a high-demand occupation. The JET Advisory Board meets every quarter to review received applications.
For the FY 23-24 Biennium $15 million was allocated for: public junior, technical, and state colleges. While $50 million allocated for: Texas ISDs; open-enrollment charter schools who have partnered with a college; and the Windham School District.
About the Board
The JET Advisory Board will meet at least once a quarter, or as needed, to review applications and recommend grant awards. The Board is presided over by the Chair of TWC and will include education and workforce stakeholders appointed by:
- The Texas Governor
- The Texas Lieutenant Governor
- The Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives
- The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
- The Texas Workforce Commission
Appointees will serve two-year terms. The Chair of TWC will hold a statutory appointment.
