The Governor’s Science and Technology Champions Academy is a week-long science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) hands-on residential summer camp that helps students explore the practical applications of STEM endeavors and exposes students to exciting career options that involve high-tech skills.
Top finishers from the high school division of the Texas Science & Engineering Fair are invited to attend the Governor’s Science and Technology Champions Academy. Recent hosts of the camp have included Texas A&M University and the University of Houston. Participants engage in hands-on laboratory activities and learn from university and business experts.
Scholarships awarded to science fair winners cover the entire cost of the residential summer camp. The academy is funded with federal workforce development funds, administered by the Texas Workforce Commission, to support initiatives by the Governor of Texas to prepare Texas’ future workforce.
