The Texas Intern Network (previously Texas Internship Challenge) is a signature initiative of the Tri-Agency. It helps connect talented Texas students with local employers. The program's mission is to:

  • Help students start their careers and help employers find great candidates through a free internship-focused website.
  • Connect students and employers through a conference series, as well as a LinkedIn group.

This program was recommended to Governor Greg Abbot by the Texas Workfroce Commission (TWC), the Texas Education Agency (TEA), and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).

TXWORKS Benefits for Employers

In partnership with the THECB and the Texas Working Off-Campus: Reinforcing Knowledge and Skills Internship Program (TXWORKS), Texas employers can get state money to help pay undergraduate interns.

  • State Funding: In 2024 – 2025, the state will pay $15 per hour toward an eligible internship.
  • Employer Match: Employers match that $15 per hour. This creates a highly competitive $30-per-hour job for the student while keeping costs low for the business.

Texas Intern Network Conference Series

Through this initiative, TWC and partners host a free conference series. These events connect students with employers to get career advice and build professional networks. Students have the chance to get feedback on their interview skills, learn best practices from industry leaders, and talk with local employers about their internship programs.
