AUSTIN ⎯ Texas' economy continued its strong performance in March, with the labor market achieving record highs in both total jobs and the size of the civilian labor force. Texas added 26,500 positions over the month to reach a total of 14,282,600 nonfarm jobs. The state added 192,100 jobs over the year, bringing the annual nonfarm growth rate to 1.4 percent which outpaced the national growth rate by 0.2 percentage points.

AUSTIN - Governor Greg Abbott today announced four Skills Development Fund (SDF) grant awards totaling $1,352,957 to Collin County Community College District (Collin College) by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). Through these SDF grants, Collin College will provide customized training for more than 840 new and current workers at 13 local businesses for high-demand occupations in healthcare, accounting, manufacturing, and more.

The state added 20,100 positions over the month to reach a total of 14,254,200 nonfarm jobs. Texas added 182,300 jobs from February 2024 to February 2025, bringing the annual nonfarm growth rate to 1.3 percent and outpacing the national growth rate by 0.1 percentage points.

The state added 27,900 positions over the month, reaching a total of 14,236,400 nonfarm jobs. Texas added 187,700 jobs from January 2024 to January 2025, bringing the annual nonfarm growth rate to 1.3 percent.

AUSTIN - Governor Greg Abbott today announced a more than $137,000 Skills Development Fund (SDF) grant awarded to El Paso Community College by the Texas Workforce Commission. Through this SDF grant, El Paso Community College will provide customized training for over 65 new and incumbent employees of Vinton Steel, LLC (“Vinton Steel") in heavy and civil engineering construction. 

AUSTIN - Governor Greg Abbott and Texas Workforce Commission today celebrated Career and Technical Education Month by recognizing the achievements of Texas students in career and job training programs as they prepare for high-demand, good-paying jobs in over 460 different fields across the state.

AUSTIN ⎯ The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is currently accepting applications to serve on the Advisory Committee of the Purchasing from People with Disabilities Program, also known as the Works Wonders Program. The committee is made up of 13 members who advise TWC on matters relating to the Works Wonders program. Works Wonders assists individuals with disabilities in achieving independence through productive employment.

AUSTIN ⎯ The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is now accepting applications for a new grant to strengthen the Texas healthcare workforce. The new dual credit healthcare grants will provide funding to programs that allow high school students to earn college credits for courses that lead to healthcare careers.

AUSTIN ⎯ Governor Greg Abbott today announced a more than $138,000 Skills Development Fund grant, awarded by the Texas Workforce Commission on Friday, to Victoria College to provide customized training in petroleum and coal products manufacturing to over 100 new and incumbent employees of Seadrift Coke.
