AUSTIN – The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is celebrating Texas Apprenticeship Week from Nov. 17-23, 2024. The initiative will highlight the benefits of apprenticeships for both employers and workers. Events throughout the week will be held to recognize businesses, schools, and partner organizations that support apprenticeships.

Texas’ labor market achieved a new record high in October for number of people in the civilian labor force. After adding 47,300 people over the month, the seasonally adjusted civilian labor force reached the new record high of 15,497,100. This marks the tenth consecutive month of growth for Texas’ civilian labor force. Over the year, Texas’ civilian labor force has added 360,800 people.

AUSTIN – From November 1-22, the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is hosting the 13th annual Hiring Red, White & You! event series. This statewide event connects employers with veterans, transitioning military members, and military spouses.

Texas’ labor market achieved new record highs in September in terms of the job count and number of people in the civilian labor force. Texas’ seasonally adjusted total nonfarm employment increased to 14,289,900 after 29,200 jobs were added over the month. Texas added 327,400 jobs from September 2023 to September 2024. Texas’ annual nonfarm growth rate currently sits at 2.3 percent, outpacing the U.S. growth rate by 0.7 percentage points.

AUSTIN - Today the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) hosted its annual White Cane Day celebration. This event's goal is to teach people about how individuals who are blind or visually impaired can live and work independently while contributing to their communities.

Texas’ annual nonfarm growth rate currently sits at 2.2 percent, outpacing the U.S. growth rate by 0.7 percentage points.

AUSTIN ⎯ The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) presented a $350,000 Texas Talent Connection (TTC) grant from the Office of Governor Greg Abbott to My Possibilities, a non-profit organization serving adults with disabilities. The grant will support innovative education and workforce skills training programs leading to successful job placement, increased wages, and improved job retention for workers in the North Central Texas area.

AUSTIN – The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has awarded $83,030,502 to 40 grantees across the state in support of adult education and literacy. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education, these grants will continue educational opportunities for 70,000 adult learners served by TWC’s Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) programs.

AUSTIN – Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) awarded $1.4 million in grants for Youth Robotics programs that will enable more than 8,200 Texas high school students to participate in Youth Robotics competitions. This year, two applicants received grant awards — Robotics Education and Competition Foundation, Inc. and FIRST in Texas.
