Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and Texas Workforce Solutions, in conjunction with Tri-Agency Initiative partners, Governor's Office of Economic Development & Tourism and industry associations, are raising awareness about careers in our state’s in-demand industries through the statewide “Careers in Texas Industries” events. These career exploration events will encourage students to explore careers in growing Texas Industry Clusters and help students, parents and educators understand in-demand industries through networking with industry professionals and internship opportunities.
The Tri-Agency Workforce Initiative established by Governor Greg Abbott tasked the Commissioners of the Texas Education Agency, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and TWC to develop strong links between education and industry, with the goal of helping Texas grow in economic prosperity. Careers in Texas Industries is an initiative to promote statewide and regional industry clusters that support a variety of businesses and job creation through employer partnerships across the state of Texas.
Texas Industry Clusters are a concentration of businesses and industries in a geographic region that are interconnected by the markets they serve, the products they produce, their suppliers, the trade associations to which their employees belong, and the educational institutions from which their employees or prospective employees receive training. Employers participating in Careers in Texas Industries events will have the opportunity to showcase the exciting and rewarding careers in their industries.
