Overview

The Labor Market Information (LMI) Department is part of the Information Innovation & Insight Division at the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The department is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and distributing labor market and career information to support data-driven decision-making by both internal and external stakeholders.

LMI maintains a cooperative relationship with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) to collect economic data used in its analysis and online applications. The department provides a range of information on employment trends, occupational data, career information, and economic indicators through web-based applications and printed publications.

LMI’s work supports the analytical needs of TWC leadership, the Governor’s office, the Texas Legislature, and other entities by providing reliable data for workforce planning and economic development. The department develops and manages relational databases and data systems to ensure timely and accurate access to labor market information.
