NOTICE: Currently Skills Development Fund is only accepting COVID-19 training applications.
The Skills Development Fund is launching a new training initiative to assist businesses across Texas during the COVID-19 pandemic. Public community and technical colleges, Workforce Development Boards and TEEX (Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service) can assist businesses who want to train their workforce. The Skills Development Fund pays for the training.
The Office of Employer Initiatives – Skills Development Fund Outreach and Project Development Team works with businesses and training providers to support application development and submission. The Skills Development Fund and Self-Sufficiency Fund Grants Team provides grant management support. If you have any questions, please send an email to Skills@twc.state.tx.us or reach out to a Regional Representative through the Skills Development Fund Outreach Team Map.
The Texas Workforce Commission’s (TWC) Skills for Small Business program supports businesses with fewer than 100 employees, emphasizes training for new workers, and helps upgrade the skills of incumbent workers. Through this program, up to $2 million from the Skills Development Fund is dedicated to the backbone of Texas' business community—our more than 433,000 small employers.
Small businesses can apply to TWC for training offered by their local community or technical college or the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX). TWC processes the applications and works with the college to fund the specific courses selected by businesses for their employees.
