Employment discrimination generally exists where an employer treats an applicant or employee less favorably merely because of a person’s race, color, religion, sex, age (over 40), national origin, or disability. Employment discrimination also applies to work situations such as hiring, firing, promotions, harassment, training, wages, and benefits.

Filing a Complaint

The Texas Workforce Commission Civil Rights Division (TWCCRD) Employment Discrimination Inquiry Submission System (EDISS) is the method to submit your employment discrimination complaint. It provides an ample amount of space to describe how you have been discriminated against.  Be sure to include your correct email address in the complaint form along with the employer’s contact email.

The TWCCRD has the authority to investigate charges of discrimination against employers who are covered by the law. Our role in an investigation is to fairly and accurately assess the allegations in the charge and then make a finding.

Important Note When Submitting A Compliant:
The TWCCRD requires the name of the company or agency you work for or worked for when asked for the "Respondent Name". This is the company where the complaint took place.

Training Opportunities

We also work to prevent discrimination before it occurs through outreach, education, and technical assistance programs. The Civil Rights Division’s Training team can help. We offer numerous Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) training presentations and can tailor training to your needs.
