Each year, the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and local Workforce Solutions partners recognize employers across Texas for excellence and innovation. The 26th Annual Texas Workforce Conference was held Nov. 29 - Dec. 1, 2023, in Houston. This year’s theme was “Many Paths, One Mission.”
AUSTIN ⎯ The Lone Star State’s seasonally adjusted civilian labor force reached a new record high of 15,162,100 after growing by 20,900 people over the month in October. This marked the 10th consecutive monthly increase and included the addition of 21,100 Texans employed over the month. The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 4.1 percent.
AUSTIN – Today the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) welcomed Joe Esparza following his swearing-in ceremony at the Texas Capitol. Governor Greg Abbott appointed Esparza as the Texas Workforce Commission’s new Commissioner Representing Employers, where he will serve almost 650,000 Texas employers that support more than 14 million jobs for Texans.

AUSTIN – The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is investing in efforts to enhance existing rehabilitation and reentry efforts after receiving a $4.6 million Partners for Reentry Opportunities in Workforce Development (PROWD) Grant. The funding, which comes from the U.S. Department of Labor in partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice, will be used to extend employment services to individuals who are incarcerated or released from federal prisons.
AUSTIN – Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Commissioner Representing Employers Aaron Demerson was recently appointed to serve as the new President and CEO of Texas Economic Development Corporation. He will conclude his service to TWC on Nov. 3, 2023.  
AUSTIN ⎯ Texas’ labor market achieved new record highs in September in terms of the job count, number of people employed, and number of people in the civilian labor force. Total nonfarm employment increased by 61,400 positions over the month to reach a 24th consecutive series-high level with 14,049,400 jobs and a 31st consecutive month of growth. Since September 2022, Lone Star State employment grew by 435,800 positions as Texas’ annual growth rate of 3.2 percent outpaced the nation by 1.1 percentage points.
AUSTIN ⎯ The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has awarded Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas a $15000 High Demand Job Training (HDJT) grant to prepare area workers for long-term, high-demand careers.

AUSTIN ⎯ My Possibilities, a non-profit organization serving adults with disabilities, received a $350,000 Texas Talent Connection (TTC) grant from the Office of Governor Greg Abbott to provide innovative education and workforce skills training programs that lead to successful job placement, increased wages, and improved job retention for workers in the Workforce Solutions North Central Texas area.
