Eligible educational institutions can apply for JET funding through a competitive grant process. The 2023 Request for Applications (RFA) 32023-00138 Jobs and Education for Texans Grant Program for Public Junior Colleges, Public Technical Institutes, and Public State Colleges, Texas Independent School Districts, Open-Enrollment Charter Schools and the Windham School District can be viewed at the following link on the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Electronic State Business Daily website:

About the Program

The JET program provides grants to eligible entities to purchase and install equipment necessary for the development of career and technical education (CTE) courses or programs that lead to a license, certificate or post-secondary degree in a high-demand occupation. The JET Advisory Board will meet at least once each quarter, or as needed, to review received applications and recommend grant awards.

Eligible grantees include:

  • Public junior, state or technical colleges
  • Texas Independent School Districts (ISDs) and open-enrollment charter schools in partnership with a public junior, state, or technical college
  • Windham School District

Funding

The (JET) program was allocated $15 million for the FY22-23 biennium to provide grants to public junior, technical, and state colleges; and approximately $50 million for the FY22-23 biennium to provide grants to TX ISDs and open-enrollment charter schools entered into a partnership with a public junior, technical, and state college; and the Windham School District.

These grants provide potential economic returns through:

  • Supporting new, emerging industries or high-demand occupations
  • Offering new or expanded career and technical education opportunities in public high schools
