Requirements

TWC Internet User ID & Password

To file wage reports online using Unemployment Tax Services requires registration. During the quick and simple registration process, users create a User ID and password to use each time they access the online system. To register and to learn about other online services, visit Unemployment Tax Services.

Authority to File a Wage Report

The account administrator for the employer's unemployment tax account grants the authority to file wage reports. TWC is not the administrator and cannot approve account access. The administrator is normally an owner, partner, officer or other designated representative of the company. If you are the administrator for the employer's unemployment tax account, you already have the wage reporting authority.

Once you have account access, guard the user ID and password as you would for any other important account. You will need the information each time you use this service.

Wage Report Information

You will need to provide the following information:

  • Number of employees, both full- and part-time, employed in the months covered by the wage report
  • Texas county where the greatest number of your employees worked
  • Number of employees who worked outside the county you reported above
  • A Social Security number for each employee unique to that quarterly wage report
  • Each employee's last name and first initial (the middle initial is optional)
  • Texas wages paid to each employee for the quarter
  • Wages paid to each employee and reported to a state other than Texas, if applicable

Steps for Filing a Wage Report Using Unemployment Tax Services

  1. Logon to Unemployment Tax Services.
  2. Select the tab for Report Filing from the My Home page.
  3. Choose the wage report to file. Select "No Wages" if you did not pay any wages in the quarter.
  4. Review the basic report information.
  5. Enter the employee wages (if filing a report with wages). You can enter wages manually, upload a file, or use the last wage report filed to pre-populate employee information for up to 1,000 employees. If you are a successor employer with a transferred rate from the predecessor employer, the Unemployment Tax Services system will not calculate the taxable wage amount correctly and you should contact your tax account representative.
  6. Review the information and revise if needed, before filing the report.
  7. File the wage report.
  8. View and print the confirmation information.
  9. Look for email confirmation from TWC.

Tips for Submitting a Wage Report

  • Each Web page has a "Need help?" link that takes you to a Help page that explains the page's purpose and defines each field.
  • If you logoff prior to submitting the wage report, your report is automatically saved as incomplete. Incomplete wage reports are available for you to resume editing or to delete.
  • Prior to filing the wage report, you will be able to review and edit the entered information. Once you file the wage report, a Confirmation page displays and you can print a copy for your records.
  • Filed reports are available for viewing via the Report Filing tab.
  • You can delete a report until we have extracted it for processing. If the report has been extracted, the Delete link will not display.
  • To correct a quarterly wage report that has been submitted, you must file a wage adjustment report. For more information, see How to Adjust a Filed Wage Report Online.
  • Employer Quarterly Reports must be submitted before 12:00 a.m. (midnight) Central Time on the due date. If the due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday on which TWC offices are closed, the report is considered timely if it is submitted on the following business day. Late reports are subject to penalties.
