The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is excited to announce the resumption of the Texas Unemployment System (TxUS) UI Tax Modernization project. After a two-year pause, the project is moving forward with a continued commitment to streamlining and enhancing the UI Tax experience for Texas employers.   

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is working on an upgrade for the unemployment tax system! This program will make the system easier to use and more modern.  

Texas Unemployment System (TxUS)  will replace Unemployment Tax Services (UTS) and Unemployment Tax Registration (UTR) and will be faster and will have more features.  

While the exact date for this new system to be fully launched is still being worked out, TWC promises to keep everyone updated on the progress.  

This modernization project is a big investment in Texas's unemployment system. TWC is committed to making sure that employers in Texas have a positive and smooth experience when using the system.

TxUS Information

The following information details the upcoming new tax system, including wage report validations and error codes related to wage report submissions within the new system.

  • The current User ID and password will not transfer to the new system.
  • The official "go live" date is not yet determined, but the new system is currently undergoing thorough testing. An announcement will be made through the website and directly to employers and agents via email.
  • The history of your current tax account, including reports, payments, and documents, will be transferred to the new system. 

  • An agent is an individual or entity authorized to act on behalf of an employer, including Third-Party Administrators (TPAs), Certified Public Accountants (CPAs), bookkeepers, and employers themselves.
  • Agents typically need access to multiple accounts and will be required to have a TWC Agent account number.
  • The registration process for agent accounts is currently in development.
